Silicone Wristbands
Overview
Silicone wristbands first came to prominance in 2004 with the yellow "lLvestrong" wristband associated with cyclist Lance Armstrong's Foundation. While originally a US promotion, it gained worldwide attention, when worn by a large number of athletes at the Athens Olympics. Since that time there has been an explosion of styles, colours & options to enhance their appeal. Many charities are now using Silicone wristbands as their major promotional item.
Silicone wristbands unlike Plastic & tyvek wristbands offer a longevity in promoting a message as they are commonly worn for months, also having the convenience of being easily removed & reapplied depending on the wearers circumstances. Hence, they have adopted an association with "Causes" & "Awareness" campaigns. Silicone wristbands uses are also widening & they are being adapted to hold USB devices, watches & RFID chips. A major benefit of Silicone wristbands is the fact they are soft & hypo allergenic ( doesn't cause skin problems ).
Silicone wristbands are preferred as promotional & identification items & are not considered as a security wristband as they can be stretched & therefore transferred from person to person. While smaller length Silicone wristbands have been produced for children, they often are supplied as a one size fits all.

Recessed Text
Text may be recessed on the inside or outside of the Silicone band. This wristband is in a single colour only & often may be PMS colour matched
Recessed Multi Colour
Text may be recessed on the inside or outside of the Silicone wristband. This wristband contains several colours, & organisations are using it to help differentiate their message & avoid confusion with other causes.
Screen Printed
As implied text & logos are imprinted on the outside of the wristband. The message is easier to see than a recessed message & will fade over time as the inks come in contact with chemicals involved in day to day living, sucha as soaps & detergents.
Raised Embossed
This silicone wristband is the opposite of the recessed wristband. Text is raised on the outside of the band & can be easily felt. The text may be screen printed or plain.
Recessed Text (Option Enhanced)
These silicone wristbands have the same features as the recessed text bands. The point of difference being a pigment is added to the silicone & the wristband may Glow in the Dark, Change Colour or be UV reflective when subject to a black light.
